With the recent creation of the Small Vessels engineering certificate has come a great deal of confusion for those pursuing their dream superyacht crew job. The new course exists concurrently with the existing Y4, Y3, Y2, and Y1 qualifications. Yachting engineers – both new and experienced – are unsure whether continuing down the yachting path is a safe bet or whether converting to the Small Vessels route is the way to go. Surely, it stands to reason that the decision is an easy one – one should begin with the newest qualification? British studio Winch Design has revealed its original designs for the successor to the Royal Yacht Britannia, which were shelved in 1997. The 150 metre design was commissioned by GEC Marine in anticipation of the royal yacht being fully withdrawn from service.
